This short fashion feature is all about my ring collection!

From L-R: Tape Measure [Topman], Scrabble Initial [EBay], Deer [Primark], Armour [Primark], Cross [Urban Outfitters], Moustache [Topshop], LOVE [River Island] & Heart [Greggs – Free].

Most of you probably know by now that I LOVE gold jewellery, hence why most of these rings are in that luxurious colour. My favourites have to be the tape measure, LOVE and Scrabble rings because they are so versatile, and I wear them with most of my outfits. You’re probably wondering why the tape measure ring is from Topman – they have in my opinion, better and more ‘unique’ jewellery than Topshop! So if you’re looking for something different, head there! My heart ring was given to me for free from Greggs on Valentine’s Day last year; it’s more of a novelty ring than an ‘everyday’ one like the others. As you can see it’s not really a ‘collection’, so hopefully when the next student loan comes in, I can splash out on some more rings!

So that’s my ring collection! What rings do you have? Is your collection small like mine or is your jewellery box oozing with rings?

ersonal

For the past few weeks I have been feeling really run down and stressed, due to a number of things -uni, work, money and life in general. So today I decided to do a bit of retail therapy – well Primark therapy – and checked out what the Preston store had to offer!

I only had 30 minutes to do some speedy shopping, as Ali had to go and prepare for his awesome radio show; Extra Time, on Guild Radio (little plug there for you guys!).

I was rushing around a quite surprisingly tidy Primark. For those of you who are international readers, Primark is basically a fairly cheap store which sells basic clothes, as well as one off ‘on-trend’ items. It’s also known for being a really untidy store (clothes all over the floor etc.) So I was shocked to see that the place was actually tidy!

Anyway, I picked up a few items, and in total spent £34, which is quite expensive for three things, but boy, they are worth it!

I bought:
‘Leather’ jacket, £20 – Despite already owning a black leather jacket (with a fur collar), I couldn’t help but buy this simple hooded version. I know that some of Primark’s ‘leather’ jackets look really cheap, but by pairing this baby with the right clothing and accessories, it will look amazing! The hood may ‘downgrade’ the jacket, but it will be so handy if it rains – and it always rains in Preston!

Polka dot grey & dark pink jumper , (the jumper is darker IRL) £12 – Polka dots are huge this season with Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney and Diane von Furstenberg all including this eclectic print into their Autumn/Winter 2011 collections.  So it comes to no surprise that I had to effectively ‘jump on the bandwagon’ and purchase this gorgeous polka dot jumper! Many ‘typical’ polka dot prints consist of monochrome colours, so this buy was a little bit different to the norm, which I like! I can team this jumper with my leather shorts and my new vintage boots for a cheeky shopping trip, or I can wear it with this Topshop bodycon skirt and these shoe boots from Republic for a night out with the girls – the possibilities are endless!

Brassy deer ring £2 – The final item I bought was this adorable deer ring! As regular readers know, I LOVE my rings! So I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add this brassy ring to my ever-growing collection. This ring can be worn with practically any outfit! I can also pair this baby with other similar colour rings that I have, for the ‘stacked’ effect. For £2, this is a well invested piece of jewellery.

I was fairly impressed with Primark today, as I saw quite a few ‘on-trend’ clothes, and even some ‘unique’ clothes, which is so different from their usual basic jersey and jumper stuff. I think Primark is a bit of a ‘hit and miss’, one day you’ll go in there and find loads of nice clothes which suit your style, and other days, you hardly find anything.  I definitely think today was one of them days where I saw loads of things to buy, but I simply didn’t have the time to have a good rummage through the clothes.

What do you guys think of Primark? It would be interesting to hear your thoughts!

This week I create three outfits from up-and-coming online store, The Student Boutique

The Student Boutique was created in March 2010 by Candice Edwards, a Marchrones proprietor, with one thing in mind: to sell ‘student fashion’ for ‘student prices’.  Since then, the online store has boomed with students from around the country purchasing their diverse range of clothing and accessories.

This wishlist is all about playful prints with a touch of minimalist accessories. Unfortunately The Student Boutique do not sell shoes, nevertheless I hope you enjoy the looks!

Here they are from clockwise round:

Outfit 1
White Bow Headband, £4 –This lovely white bow headband will add a touch of ‘cuteness’ to the look. This headband will accentuate the cream ribbons on the playsuit, and will go well with the playful/vintage vibe the outfit has to offer.

Blue & Cream Ribbon Print Playsuit, £18 – Print playsuits are in fashion this summer with musical mogul/fashionista Pixie Lott featuring them in her new Lipsy Collection. So naturally I had to feature a print playsuit in This Week’s Wishlist! I love the shade of blue contrasting the cream ribbons – this print is not only ‘functional’ for the daytime, but dress this baby up with some cute cream heels and you will be ready to paint the town ‘blue’!

Antique Effect Gold Owl Ring, £3 – Yes I know, another gold ring – what can I say? I just cannot resist a pretty ring when I see one! Owl jewellery seems to be taking the high-street world by storm at the moment with owl necklaces, earrings and rings popping up in Topshop and New Look, to name a few. This gold ring will add a touch of ‘vintage’ and ‘antiquity’ feel to the look because of the gold effect on the ring and will complete the outfit perfectly.

Outfit 2
Mint Coloured Flower Print Tulip Dress, £18 – This is a floral dress with a twist! The bra-like panels on the dress not only accentuates your boobs, but pair this with the accessories below, and you have yourself a winning on-trend outfit with a twist.

Black/Hematite Bangle, £5.50 – Why be plain and boring with dainty accessories when you can add a touch of ‘rock and roll’ into your look? This black jewel bangle will clash well with the floral dress and will make it a great outfit for the festival season.  Think Poppy Delevigne but without the Belstaff biker jacket.

Diamante Skull Clutch Bag, £27 – To complete the look with the most expensive item on This Week’s Wishlist, I have included a diamante skull clutch bag into the outfit. This will add to the ‘tough rock chick’ look and for the price, is well worth it.

Outfit 3
Leopard Print Cut out Dress, £13 – Completing the focus on the Spring/Summer 2011 print trend; I have picked this daring leopard print cut out dress for only £13! Similar statement print dresses have been seen on the likes of Brooklyn Decker, Tamara Mellon and Jaclyn Smith and if they can pull this off, so can you! Because of the cut outs in the dress, you have to be careful with the fine line of ‘baring too much flesh’. So aside from the cute bangle below, team this dress with a lovely black crop jacket to make your look more stylish and sophisticated.

Gold Jet Stone Cuff Bangle, £5.50 –This accessory is the finishing touch for outfit three and works well with the leopard print dress. To make it even more fashionable and unique with the current tribal trend, try wearing the bangle on top of your arm for a more noticeable way of showing off your bargain bangle.

That’s another wishlist complete for this week; look out for next week’s wishlist featuring three outfits I have created from another prestigious online store, ASOS.

Another week, another wishlist. This week I am focusing on another one of my favourite stores, Republic. Republic has a diverse amount of brands from Crafted to Miso to Soul Cal, so whenever you’re stuck for something to wear for a particular occasion, Republic can cater for that.

Once again I have created three outfits from some of my favourite Republic pieces. However, this week there was one piece which I could not incorporate in the outfits, but I loved it so much I have decided to let it have its own spotlight here.

The Soul Cal Deluxe Cricket Jumper

Cricket jumpers have become the fore-front of sports-based fashion with cricket tournaments such as Twenty20 highlighted on sports channels such as the prestigious Sky Sports channel or as part of BBC’s sports coverage.

This jumper is a beautiful shade of blue, which teamed with red lipstick, will make your outfit ‘pop’! At £29.99 it is definitely an investment for not only summer but for winter too!

Here are the items from clockwise-round:

Outfit 1
Miso Layered Feather Necklace, £4.99
– This week I’m going for a ‘laid back’ look. So for outfit one I thought I should ‘spice’ things up with this feather necklace worn as a hair accessory.  Being festival season, feathers are in at the moment – check out the feather headdress from last week’s wishlist! This alone is the perfect accessory for this outfit and compliments the green skinny jeans nicely.

Bench Tricky Birds Top, £19.99 – I love my white print tops, and this Bench birds top is no exception. This top can be worn during the day for the ‘laid back’ look I am trying to achieve here, or it can be dressed up for night time with some black skinny jeans and shoe boots. The one thing which makes this top ‘summery’ is the fact you can tie the ends up and show off that beautiful tummy of yours!

Soul Cal Deluxe Summer Skinny Trousers, £29.99 – Many celebs have been sporting the coloured denim look with style-savvy Fearne Cotton making the most of this trend by wearing blue, red and even pink skinny jeans! So I couldn’t help but feel like I didn’t want to be left out of this cool trend. While most A-List stars are wearing pink coloured jeans – think Victoria Beckham – I decided to wear this trend differently and I have my eye on these cute green skinny jeans!

SALE! Crafted Lace Peep Shoes, £20 – Now not many people suit skinny jeans, so to elongate my short legs I thought I should include these lace peep shoes which are on SALE, onto my wishlist. These complete the outfit perfectly as the fabric colour matches the feather ‘headband’. Perfecto!

Outfit 2
Soul Cal Deluxe Vintage Floral Playsuit, £22.99
– I haven’t featured something floral yet, so I thought that it was time to include this big summer trend into outfit two. This vintage floral suit is perfect for the casual day time look. I love this playsuit so much I even bought it! Look out for it in future outfit posts!

Miso Brogue Lace up Shoes, £39.99 – I am a massive brogue fan! Not only are they super-comfortable, they will look amazing with the floral playsuit to complete the ‘vintage’ look! At £39.99, despite being a tad expensive, they are well worth the investment as the autumn/winter 2011/2012 forecasts prove.

Miso Woven Barrel Bag, £29.99 – For this outfit, I wanted to keep the accessories minimal as the floral print looks good by itself without the need for a large amount of accessories. So this brown woven Miso barrel bag is the perfect finishing touch for this look. Not only does it compliment the brogues, it adds to the ‘vintage’ look which I am hoping to achieve. That’s outfit two done!

Outfit 3
Crafted Printed Tassel Cropped Top, £19.99
– Tassel tops are big in fashion at the moment! Take Eliza Doolittle, who never fails to amaze me with her quirky style! Sticking to my own personal style of white print tees, I have decided on this grungy-looking Crafted printed tassel top. As Miss Doolittle is sporting denim shorts, I thought I would have my own take on complementing this trend with Soul Cal’s Americana Hotpants.

Soul Cal Deluxe Americana Hotpants, £29.99 – These Hotpants are not only different, but they look amazing with the tassel top – which is great if you want an on-trend outfit for the festival season!

Miso Ram Head Ring, £5.99 – This outfit wouldn’t be complete without a nice silver ring – and you know how I love my rings. This Miso Ram Head ring is no exception, and will complement the outfit perfectly.

Crafted Wedge Sandal, £29.99 – Finally, in order to achieve this festival casual look, I had to include this Crafted Wedge sandal into my look. This look is all about the grunge, and I think that all of these wishlist items achieve that.

Well that is another wishlist complete! Look out for next week’s where I look at the eccentric Student Boutique website for three looks which I am sure you will love!

This week I decided to raid the Urban Outfitters website. As per-usual, they never fail to deliver when it comes to producing exotic, sought-after items.

As you can see, I love the UO headgear! With the majority of famous festivals occurring this week, I thought the ‘festival’ theme would work perfectly with the three outfits I have created.

Ps.
Apologies for the sudden lack of posts! I have been very busy these past couple of weeks due to having a massive clear-out. However, I have been brewing more blog ideas, so look forward to those in the next coming weeks!

Here are the items from clockwise-round:

Outfit 1
Straw Hat with Grosgrain Band, £20 – I’m not usually a hat person, apart from the odd winter beanie hat and ‘cowboy’ hat for a fancy dress night out. However, with festival season here, what item is better for protecting your hair from the sun than a nice, simple, straw hat like this one?

BDG Breezy Boyfriend Shirt, £38 – I love, love, love this shirt! I’m usually a check shirt sort-of-girl but I couldn’t let this stripy boyfriend shirt pass me by. This, tucked into the gorgeous denim shorts below makes for a style-savvy festival outfit.

Bitching & Junkfood Feather Pocket Shorts, £70 – Okay, so £70 is a bit steep for denim shorts. However, they’re no ordinary denim shorts. They’re denim shorts WITH feathers on the pockets. This will definitely make you stand out from the crowd at your local music gathering!

Hunter Tall Original Boot, £40 Kate Moss is one notable fashionista who made these boots catch the spotlight when she went to Glastonbury Festival all those years ago. Other celebs followed suit, and now everyone who can afford these babies now owns a pair. Originally £69, these wellingtons have now been reduced to a more reasonable price of £40. Jackpot!

Outfit 2
Bitching & Junkfood Rose Crochet Headdress, £115 – This Bitching & Junkfood headdress may be expensive, but feather headdresses are the future according to Bitching & Junkfood designers; Marion and Kath. This headdress would be perfect for any festival you go to, plus it makes you stand out from the crowd. Headdresses are beginning to get so popular even Primark has a £2 version of a feather headdress!

Kimchi & Blue Daisy Playsuit, £55 – LWDs (Little White Dresses) took the Spring/Summer 2011 catwalks by storm with designers such as Gucci and Givenchy creating simple and sophisticated white dresses which can either be dressed up for night time or dressed down. Seeing as I like to be a bit different, I decided to settle on this LWP (Little White Playsuit) which will probably get muddy at festivals, but I am sure as hell will look good!

Stag Bunny & Owl Rings, £14 – As you all know, I love my jewellery at the moment, and whilst I like to keep this outfit simple, I think a few rings will complete the outfit. These cute rings, which come in a pack of three (hence the price), stacked on one finger will show festi-goers that I mean business in the fashion stakes!

Tan Bead Cuff Sandal, £18 – I instantly fell in love with these sandals as soon as I saw them on the UO website. They were originally £38, so for £18, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to incorporate these into my second outfit.

Outfit 3
Floppy Bow Hat, £22 – This web exclusive is just up my hat street! It’s different and has a sort of ‘seventies’ feel which is what I am basing this third outfit on.

Plastic Wing Frame Sunglasses, £16 – Ever since I saw Katy Perry sport these sunnies, I couldn’t help but want my own pair! These, teamed with the floppy bow hat not only protect you from the sun, but will make you the envy of your friends’ á la Katy Perry style.

Boy London Leave the Boy Alone Tee, £35 – Simple logo tees are the base for a stylish and simple outfit. This, tucked into the polka dot wide legged trousers below, will modernise this ‘seventies’ outfit without making you look like a Desperate Housewife in the process.

Pins & Needles Polka Dot Wide Legged Trousers, £60 – These wide legged trousers are the essence of this ‘seventies’ outfit. The polka dot pattern makes me feel all summery, and this teamed with the nude lace up peep toe shoes is perfect for a special summer occasion.

Deena & Ozzy Nude Lace up Peep Toe Shoes, £50– Originally £95, now reduced to £50, is the final item which completes this outfit. I would have gone for flats if I wasn’t a shorty. These shoe boots can be dressed up for a night out in the town or can be dressed down such as this outfit for a nice summer pub lunch.

There you have it! This week’s Urban Outfitters wishlist has now been complete. Look forward to next week’s wishlist which includes three outfits I have created from diverse store; Republic.

This week’s Wishlist will feature items from style-savvy store; River Island. Similar to my Topshop Wishlist, I have created three outfits which I would wear for night’s out/casual daytime.

These wishlists are also a perfect opportunity to control my urge to spend. Although I do try to think of outfits while I shop, having the chance to create outfits and post them here will allow me not to spontaneously spend my deteriorating student loan… win/win I say!

Here are the items from clock-wise round:

Outfit 1:
Green Leather Bow Jacket, £140 Despite the price, I love the jacket! When you first think of a green leather jacket you think of the typical ‘urgh’ bogey, disgusting green. Sorry to disappoint but this jacket is far from it! It’s a subtle shade of green which is unusual – and you should know by now that I like the ‘unusual’ and is a perfect match with my collar button dress. This is one to invest your money in ladies!

SALE ! Beige Collar Button through Dress, £unknown – Unfortunately this is now out-of-stock online, so the hyperlink would have taken you to an ‘out-of-stock’ page. But this dress is nice and plain which I like, plus it has the sought-after ‘Peter Pan’ collar which is a ‘must-have’ trend on this season’s catwalks. This dress will sit perfectly underneath my green leather jacket (as you can see in the picture). Let’s hope they have this baby in stock in my local River Island store!

Black Stone Ring, £10 – Another shame for you, this item is now out-of-stock! Cue sad face and tears welling up in my eyes! This ring would have gone perfectly with my ‘tough’ look. Hopefully I will come across this gem in the local RI shop!

Dark Red Lace up Ankle Boots, £35 – Dark red is one of my favourite colours, so I could not pass up the opportunity to include these cute ankle boots into my Wishlist this week. I like to mix and match my colours, and these would go very nicely with my subtle leather green jacket. These boots alongside the jacket will ‘toughen’ up the collar dress which again makes this outfit a ‘winner’ in my eyes. Now if only I had a money tree…

Outfit 2:
Purple Colour-Block Playsuit, £30 – Similar to last week’s Wishlist, I went for a piece in the colour-blocking trend and I could not let this playsuit slip past my eyes. This is a nice basic outfit for going out in, which is what I am basing outfit two on, and it will simply let the colours do the talking on the dance floor!

Silver Look Headphone Delicate Necklace, £6 – This beautiful delicate necklace is just up my street! The headphones are unusual, and depict my interest in music, as well as injecting more ‘fun’ into the outfit.

Silver Look Armour Ring, £7 – To say I usually go for gold jewellery, I instantly fell in love with this ring when I saw it online. This adds a bit of ‘bling’ to the outfit without making it look ‘trashy’.

Black Jelly Sandals, £50 – I love, love, love my plain black shoes! These black jelly sandals will be the finishing touch to my outfit, and will compliment my favourite small black bag which I have christened ‘the going out bag’.  Perfect!

Outfit 3:
SALE! Blue Print Swing Frill Vest, £7 – I couldn’t help but have a root through the sales – which is one reason why most of my Wishlist buys are out-of-stock! Nevertheless, this blue print top is perfect for daytime! This, teamed with the white crochet shorts below is perfect for looking fashionable while on a nice walk along the riverside.

SALE! White Crochet Shorts, £unknown – Oh no! These lovely pair of shorts are out-of-stock! Cue more tears! However, these shorts would have gone perfectly with the blue print top tucked in. Oh and the cute flats below! Hopefully they will be available in store!

Silver Look Armour Ring, £7 – This ring is not only functional for outfit two, but it would complement this outfit as well! With a look like this, adding minimalist jewellery is the better option than caking the outfit with bling, I think!

SALE! Light Pink Loafer Brogues, £20 – Yay! Finally found another sale item in stock! I think I shall definitely be buying these brogues for other outfits. Again, these will tee-up the outfit perfectly for the daytime and if I wanted to take the look into the night I shall be adding a black cropped-jacket and my black jelly heels from outfit two!

Et voila! This week’s wishlist is complete! Look out for next week’s wishlist where I shall be drooling over sought-after pieces available from the wonderful Urban Outfitters!

Late last month I went on a shopping frenzy – I spent £38 in Primark in one session for crying out loud! So whilst I sort through my now-bursting wardrobe full of clothes I don’t need or wear, I thought I might as well showcase my purchases as well as a few items which I am looking to get more use out of for summer. So here goes…

Lately I’ve been buying accessories such as bags and jewellery – most notably rings! So I thought I’d put them all in my floral vanity-like box from Primark – only £3! And take a photo, enjoy!

Here they are from clock-wise round:

Primark Floral Vanity Box, £3 – I fell in love with this floral box instantly! Not only does it look quite vintage, it can have many purposes. For example, I could use it as a bag or I could use it as a storage box. It was reduced from £7 which was a further incentive to buy it!

Primark Gold Chunky Chain Necklace, £3.50 – I’m really into my necklaces at the moment and as soon as I saw this chunky gold necklace I knew I wanted to buy it! Whenever I shop, if I like a product I always think of what it can go with – this plays an important part in whether I buy or not. Plus I have Ali, who makes me take everything out of the basket and go through which items I need the most. He’s a good’un. I have made good use out of this necklace already; you can see it in action here.

River Island Tribal/’Festival’ fringed Bag Necklace, £3 – I bought this in the Christmas River Island sale when I worked there last year. I haven’t worn it yet as I’m saving it for this summer and the festival season where it will be at home. This necklace is not only an eye-catcher, it’s also a useful bag to store change for when I’m at the festival.  Who said fashion cannot be practical?

Octopus CD Purse, £8 – I bought this purse ages ago purely because of the design! Octopus is this great boutique in Queens Arcade, Leeds, which sells unique and bright home furnishings such as cutlery, tables and even toasters! I hope to use this purse this summer to store loose change.

Primark Gold Small Purse Necklace, £2.50 –Another purchase from my Primark splurge from the past two weeks! This purse is so delicate and pretty – not usually what you would come across in Primark. You can see it with my outfit here. Another ‘vintage-like’ purchase and I must say, Primark have definitely upped their game this spring/summer!

Primark Floral Headband, £1.50 –Love, love, love this! I try to wear this as often as I can, if the outfit is appropriate. You can see this here. Sadly, one of the flowers came off on a night out, so I went to the Primark’s in Glasgow, Leeds and Manchester and I couldn’t see any! They must be popular. Luckily I managed to fix it. Phew.

Ebay Scrabble Ring, £2.50 –This ring is definitely one of my favourite purchases! I first saw this ring on style-icon Pixie Lott and instantly wanted it! Definitely a worthy buy!

Primark Multi-Coloured Bracelets, £2.50 –These bracelets have a ‘tribal/festival’ feel so I thought I’d buy them. And for a pack of 8 bracelets for £2.50, I thought “why not?” Unfortunately, the one thing about them being a Primark product is that they break easily. So now I’m limited to 4 after giving 2 away to Ali (which later broke) and two which broke when I was in the Primark fitting room! Nice!

Pink Poodle Bird Compact Mirror, £9.99 –This was one of my purchases when I went to Glasgow for the weekend, two weeks ago. I’ve been searching for a nice, quite cheap compact mirror for ages after losing one on a night out and came across this baby in Glasgow’s West End. You can see the mirror in more detail here. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

River Island Feather Headband, £1.50 –I bought this last year and unfortunately lost it. Luckily a few months later it was in the River Island in Preston, so I snapped it up again using my then staff discount!  Unluckily for them, it was a sale item so I got it half off the original price of £1.50. Bargain! I love this headband and usually wear it when I go out on the town. I will be swapping and changing this item with the Primark floral headband this summer.

Primark Big Black and Clear Rimmed Sunglasses, £1 –After my free Sugar magazine sunglasses broke after 3 years of usage, I thought it was time to get some new ones – especially as my only other pair is some gold aviators I picked up from a night out, which are too big for my head! So these £1 ones from Primark will do nicely.

From a friend, Pink and White Shell Necklace (on the teddy bear), £3-£6– I bought this ages ago from a friend who was selling her necklaces – hence the uncertainty about the price! This is going to worn this summer, especially as it’s a nice, beachy, piece of jewellery.

So there you go, here is my little box of goodies which will be on my ‘use’ list for this summer. And I think all of them were a bargain seeing as I’m a poor uni student! Cannot wait for September’s loan already!
