IT’S that time of year again ladies! Here are The Live Scene’s top three party dresses for your New Year’s Eve night out!

nye21. Embellished Bodycon Dress, £89, Miss Selfridge – It’s the final day of Autumn/Winter 2012, so why not go out with a bang in this elegant embellished dress from Miss Selfridge? Embellishment is popular this season with Balmain’s collarless jackets, Jenny Packham’s shoulder encrusted dresses and Mark Fast’s intricately jewelled cover-ups turning heads at Fashion Week. Wear this dress with these nude heels from Bank to elongate those legs of yours, and finish your outfit off with some Barry M lipstick in Chestnut Red.

2. Light Purple V Neck Peplum Dress, £25, River Island – Designers loved the two P’s (that’s Peplums and Purples) this Autumn/Winter, with Prada, Gucci and Christopher Kane waving the purple flag, whilst Nicole Farhi, Mary Katrantzou and Burberry Prorsum took the peplum trend one step further with their exaggerated hip-line pieces. This River Island dress seems to emulate both of these trends – so for only £25 what more could you ask for?

3. Foiled Lace Skater Dress by Dress Up Topshop, £50, Topshop – Skater silhouettes were huge this season with Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen including this cut in their A/W collections. Complete this look with these black Topshop platforms and some sexy smokey eyes, courtesy of Models Own.

I shall be wearing either a cobalt blue cut-out dress from Desire, or a Topshop smart cream blouse with Republic’s Miso PU leggings! Oh and not forgetting my killer black Primark heels!

What outfit will you be wearing this New Year’s Eve?

As a member of the Next Bloggers Network, this week’s ‘Steal Her Style’ is not only a feature, but it is also a competition entry to win tickets to the Elle Style Awards 2012. And who better to focus on, than the stylish, eccentric and opinionated Jameela Jamil for my entry?!

The Channel Four ‘Play It Straight’ presenter has always ‘wowed’ me with her laid-back approach to fashion.

From her love of prints, to festival chic – and not forgetting her trademark stand-out lip – Jameela has got it all. For this feature I have taken an outfit from last year’s Elle Style Awards, and I have found similar items from the Next website.

Here is what Jameela wore on the left-hand side of the image, and what I found similar on the right-hand side:

Geri Cream Maxi Floral Dress £55 –Floral prints may have been HUGE in 2011, but they are also set to be big this year too, with designers such as Peter Pilotto, Christopher Kane and Proenza Schouler  all including this Spring/Summer print into their designs. Being ahead of the fashion game is a tough job for many, but Jameela does it with grace and originality. Want to achieve this look-for-less?  Then try this Geri Cream Maxi Floral Dress from Next! This dress may be pricey but it is a good investment. It’s a perfect transitioning piece from Spring to Winter, for example, for the current icy weather try pairing this dress with some opaque tights and a cosy cardigan and for Summer, take inspiration from this look!

Models Own Eye Gift Set £15 – Every girl needs that perfect smokey eye! So this Models Own eye gift set is a perfect buy for those of you who can’t live without this sultry and sexy look! At £15 it is a tad pricey, but take heed from the blogosphere – who are raving about Models Own products at the moment – and bag yourself this kit!

Models Own Lipstick in Baby Pink £6 – Again, you can’t look like Jameela without having that all important statement lip! This Models Own baby pink lipstick is a bang on-trend colour at the moment with pastel hues being all the rage! Take colour inspiration from Valentino, Calvin Klein and Diane Von Furstenberg who had a rainbow of pastels in their collections!  Now all you need is a cute guy to pucker up with for Valentine’s Day!

Made With Love Rose Mesh Clutch £18 – Miss Jamil may have a simple plain nude clutch in the picture above, but this textured rose mesh version brings something different to this girly ensemble.  Mixing prints and textures was huge last year, so it is unsurprising that I have incorporated this ‘clashing’ trend into this week’s Steal Her Style look!

Nude T-Bar Platform Shoes £35 – Nude accessories are the best way to go if you want all the attention paid to your statement dress! These T-Bar heels are not only similar to Jameela’s shoes, but T-Bars are on trend too! Take Jonathan Saunders and Calvin Klein who had their models strutting down the runway in this particular shoe style!

That’s all for this week’s ‘Steal Her Style’! What do you guys think of Jameela’s style?

Here is a new weekly feature where I will simply post a wishlist of things I’m currently craving!

From L-R: 1. Urban Outfitters Ring Collector Necklace, 2. Miss Selfridge ‘Black Cat’ Tee, 3. Topshop Lipstick in Nevada, 4. Republic Miso Two Tone Neon Chain Earrings, 5. River Island Lime Print Shift Dress & 6. Urban Outfitters Metallic Silver Purse.

1. Ring Collector Necklace, £8, Urban Outfitters – One thing which I love about this UO necklace is the fact that it is quite unusual. For just £8 (the original price was £16 – bargain) you can customise this golden chain with your own rings to help project your own personal style. This necklace can be ‘grunged’ down for a rock chick look or ‘vamped’ up for a girlie night out by teaming it with this gorgeous black and white printed dress! The possibilities are endless!

2. Black ‘Wild Cat’ Tee, £20, Miss Selfridge – Most of you will know, that I LOVE cats (I have three!) So when I saw this cute cat crop tee on the Miss Selfridge website, I HAD to put it on my Wednesday Wishlist! This tee can be paired with my red tartan Topshop shorts for a ‘rock look’, or can be tucked into my high-waisted Republic jeans for work. MEE-OOWWW!

3. Lipstick in Nevada, £8, Topshop – You may remember that this little lipstick was featured on my Christmas Wishlist last year. Well, a couple of months have gone by and I still want it! This nudeish lipstick will be perfect for a casual daytime look with pink blusher and a subtle brown eye, or can be ‘glamourized’ at night by teaming it with classic smokey eyes!

4. Miso Two Tone Neon Chain Earrings, £9, Republic – Neon is HUGE at the moment, with designers such as Nicole Farhi, Thakoon and Alexis Mabille including these bright colours in their Spring/Summer 2012 collections. So there is no doubt that I have to snap these earrings up – they will clash perfectly with the lime print shift dress!

5. Lime Print Shift Dress, £25, River Island – Aztec print is also a big trend this season in the high street stores. Take a look at the Republic website and you will see why! This lime print shift dress is really eye-catching and will be perfect for a night out or a special occasion.

6. Metallic Silver Purse, £5, Urban Outfitters – And finally, I am in need of a new purse – my vintage one is about to burst at the seams! So this cheap metallic UO one is a perfect pick until I can afford this dreamy DKNY vintage leather purse!

A short and sweet post! Is there anything you want this Wednesday?

ersonal

Here is a short post about what I got this Christmas Day!

Many bloggers have featured this post for as long as the blogging world can remember, so here are my two cents on the subject.

Close Call
I only just managed to come home for Christmas this year, due to shifts at work. But thanks to Republic and a little shift swapping, I did not endure a lonely Christmas Day in my Prestonian flat, instead I got to spend one of the best days in the year with my family, yay!

So down to what I received. For those of you who have read my Christmas Wishlist post at the end of last month, you will see that my boyfriend and my family have taken note, and I got some of the things that I wanted!

Below are some of the things I received:

As you can see I got my Diesel Loverdose perfume, which I have been lusting after since September! My boyfriend also bought me a Models Own goodie bag from when we were at the Clothes Show Live. Despite me being with him when he bought it, I had to wait until today to get it! Ali was also too kind to buy me some luscious Thornton’s chocolate, a set of three vintage canvases, and his family bought me a lovely Union Jack hold-all which was really kind of them! To top this Christmas off, my dad gave me some money (which for all uni students’s, is a God-send!) Overall, I am so happy with what I received, I couldn’t have asked for a better family and a better boyfriend (soppy, I know!)

I am now going to use my new found soppiness and indulge in some delicious Christmas chocolate, before I stuff myself silly with Christmas dinner!

I hope you all had a good Christmas wherever you are! What did you guys receive for Christmas? If you made a wishlist, did you get some of the things that were on it?
