SHE’S the girl that has the best wardrobe in the world – I mean, who wouldn’t want a digital outfit-making machine for a closet? And aside from her incestuous romance with the gorgeous Josh (Paul Rudd), Cher Horowitz (Alicia Silverstone) also has the enviable fashion sense to match. With ‘the 90s’ being back on trend, The Live Scene shows you that you don’t need to be Clueless to channel your inner Cher.

Harlequin prints are huge this season, as seen on the runways of Balmain and Joe Fresh, so why not invest in this gorgeous skirt by Missguided? Pair it with a Miss Selfridge sheer peplum white shirt and you’ll be ready to rock or fail as in Cher’s case, your driving test!

Think monochrome is too boring? Then red may be your colour of choice! This colour is making its way through the best dressed lists with celebs such as Rihanna, Adele and Jennifer Lawrence all sporting this in-your-face colour at the Awards shows. This £12, yes you read that right, £12 River Island dress will be sure to make you a winner on the red carpet. If tartan is more your thing, grab this skirt from Sohos! Team it with a Topshop black crop top, an Amazon beret and some knee high socks from Motel Rocks!

And finally, finish off your Cher style steal with a pink feather pen. Now all you need is the cute nerdy boy…

Who is your favourite film fashionista?

With Christmas only a day away, here are my six favourite must-have items! Hint hint!

1. Petites Biker Trench, £85, Miss Selfridge – I have been looking for a nice coat for ages, and this Miss Selfridge biker trench is perfect to keep me going this Winter! I know, I know, it doesn’t exactly scream out ‘WINTER COAT’, but for £85 it’s not only on trend – the leather touch reminds me of DKNY – but I can also layer it up with my gorgeous green tartan scarf too!

2. Loverdose by Diesel, £28.50 for 30ml, The Perfume Shop – Loverdose is my favourite perfume in the entire world, so how could I not add this into my Christmas wishlist? It’s perfectly packaged and I love its floral scent! One of my best friends bought me this for my 21st birthday, but you can never have too much perfume, right?

3. White Friendship Bracelet By Marc By Marc Jacobs, £40, Harvey Nichols – I’m not usually into my designer gear (I’m more of a high street/vintage girl), but I love this Marc by Marc Jacobs friendship bracelet! It’s so simple but yet sophisticated, and it will go with anything and everything!

4. Alexander Wang Knockoff Bag, £37.99, eBay – Remember last year’s Christmas wishlist, where I had my eyes set on a gorgeous leather multi-strap Alexander Wag tote? Well here is the knock-off version! It may not be the real thing, but I would love to get my hands on it!

5. Project #3 Black Sequin Body, £39, Miss Selfridge – You may have noticed that Miss Selfridge is one of my favourite shops, and as I was having my daily peruse of their website, my eyes were instantly drawn to this gorgeous sequin body! At £39 it may be pricey, but add these Missguided leather shorts and some peep-toe shoe boots from River Island, and you’ll be Belle of the New Year’s Eve Ball!

6. Black Embellished Shorts, £45, River Island – And finally, I have been after some high-waisted embellished shorts for a while now, and these are the PERFECT pair for me! Embellishment is big this season with the likes of Balmain, Jenny Packham and Mark Fast sending their models down the runway with these party-inspired pieces. Just add a plain white H&M vest, and these killer Topshop heels to finish the outfit off.

What’s on your Christmas wishlist this year?

This month’s ‘From Catwalk to High Street’ focuses on how to achieve Topshop Unique’s designer looks for less!

The Unique team’s main focus for this season was textures – think velvet pants, leather-like pinafores, and sequin mesh dresses! Other key trends featured were chunky heeled Chelsea boots – these babies could rival the ever-so-popular Alvins – and of course the classic Autumn/Winter essential – woolly knits!

You can view a video of Topshop Unique’s Autumn/Winter 2012 show below:

(Video was taken by Fashiontv)

The look below was chosen due to its simplicity – anyone can pull off a cross knitted jumper and some velvet pants! What’s more, this outfit can be worn as it is for during the day, or it can be dressed up with these Missguided Jeffrey Campbell-alike glittery black Lolitas and embellished crop jacket from Topshop for a suave special occasion!

Berty’s Cross Print Jumper, £14.99, Missguided – Everywhere you look on the high street there is cross print! From jumpers, to leggings, to skirts – it seems that this symbol has become a Holy trend in the fashion world! So it makes no wonder that the high street took note from Unique’s A/W 2012 collection, where crosses were heavily featured.  If you’re looking for a more casual feel, then look no further as this cross print jumper from Missguided will attend to your comfy needs!  Whether it’s for a lazy day in, or for a mean shopping trip, this knit will keep you warm for Winter!

Velvet Trousers, £135, Topshop – Velvet is massive this season with the likes of Burberry Prorsum, Peter Pilotto, and Topshop Unique featuring this smooth texture in their designs, so it is only fitting that this outfit was chosen for this month’s ‘From Catwalk to High Street’.  These pants may be pricey (well they are Unique), but they can be jazzed up with this smart pearl collared blouse from Zara for office-chic, or they can be paired with this River Island embellished vest and skyscraper heels from Miss Selfridge for a night out with the girls!

VERA Pointed Flatforms, £25, ASOS – Okay, so flatforms were so last season – think Meadham Kirchhoff and Christopher Kane, however if Unique think they’re Autumn/Winter material (they also had these babies in their S/S 2012 collection), then who are we to second guess? These gorgeous suede flatforms from ASOS are the perfect wardrobe staple and can see us through until Spring!

What are your thoughts on Unique’s A/W 2012 collection?

‘Saturday’s Shoes’ is a new short feature which simply does what it says on the tin! (Or should I say ‘shoebox’?) Every week I shall post one pair from my shoe collection and write about them – think of it as a ‘shoe review’! Enjoy!

sats1

sas2sat3The ‘studded’ look is everywhere at the moment – with top retail outlets such as Missguided, Urban Outfitters and of course Toppers including this trend into their high street collections! So when I spotted these Crafted studded slipper pumps in Republic a few months back, I KNEW that I had to have them!

I have to say that these shoes are really comfy – although I do have to wear insoles due to them not fitting my feet properly! I’m usually a size 3, and these are a 3, but for some reason, they are a tiny bit big for my small feet!  (What a mouthful, I know!) However, they are perfect for work, and practically go with anything!

Do you have any studded shoes? What are your thoughts on the ‘stud’ trend?

Cats. You either love them or hate them. But either way, it seems that these furry animals have made a huge impact in the fashion world, and here’s why!

The ‘cat-craze’ began in Spring 2010, when Italian designer brand Miu Miu took the catwalks by storm, with their famous and iconic cat print designs. The high street soon took note – from Zara to online retailer ASOS including these cute creatures in their collections. It seemed that cat print had taken centre stage in the fashion world, and had created a new generation of cat lovers. By Autumn 2010, the ‘cat-craze’ bowed out gracefully to pave way for camel tones and grunge glamour. Talk about a cat-astrophe!

But now, two years later, it seems that cat print is making a comeback. From emerging designer Orla Kiely’s cat print scarves to Charlotte Olympia’s designer dupes appearing on the high street – I mean who could seriously turn down a pair of adorable kitty flats? And with more celebs than ever wearing cat print as the new black – think country-pop singer Taylor Swift, and of course British designer and style icon Victoria Beckham – the ‘cat-craze’ is back for 2012. Meow!

So to celebrate the return of the ‘cat-craze’, I have gathered some ‘Top Cat’ buys for you below. Enjoy!

From Left to Right: 1. River Island Rose Gold Tone Cat Ring, 2. Missguided Cat Face Platform Wedges, 3. Elsie Belle Jewellery Vintage Cat Cameo Necklace, 4. ASOS Shirt with Cat Embroidery, 5. Urban Outfitter Cat Print Crop Sweater, 6. Topshop Cat Bracelet, 7. Miss Selfridge Cat Print Brief & 8. ASOS Cat Print iPhone Case.

I personally love the River Island ring, and the embroidered shirt!
What are your thoughts on the ‘cat-craze’ comeback?
Will you be investing in some cattish buys?

This week’s Wednesday Wishlist is a Miss Selfridge ‘must-have’ special!

From L-R: 1. Silver Lame Dipback Tee, 2. Black Floral Denim Hotpants, 3. Buddha Ring, 4.Petites Ombre Shirt, 5. Rhinestone Chain Loop & 6. Stud Front Dipback Tee.

1. Silver Lame Dipback Tee, £25 – Metallics were a key Autumn/Winter 2011 trend, but they are still clinging on for ‘trend-glory’ this season with Herve Leger, Givenchy and Sportsmax showcasing these futuristic colours in their S/S 2012 collections. I would pair this top with my Republic black leggings and my silver studded shoes.

2. Black Floral Denim Hotpants, £28 – Florals are always a trend which always crops up at this time of year, with designers such as Matthew Williamson, Mary Katrantzou and dynamic duo Proenza Schouler turning heads with their flower power pieces at their respective fashion weeks.  These shorts would look perfect with a simple white Topshop tee and Office’s pink underground creepers. For the current ‘clash’ look, which is popular with celebrities such as Diane Kruger and Olivia Palermo, team your florals with stripes or leopard print. For this trend, anything goes!

3. Buddha Ring, £6.50 – I was drawn to this Buddha ring because believe it or not, this religion is part of my heritage (I’m half Thai). I used to own quite a few religious Thai trinkets and necklaces, but over the years I have somehow lost them! This Buddha ring reminds me of ‘the other part of my life’, and it’s also gold, which is my favourite jewellery colour – so I HAD to include it in my Wednesday Wishlist! There were only a few left in stock the last time I checked so if you want to snap this up, then you have gotta be quick!

4. Petites Ombre Shirt, £32 – Ombre is BACK, and it is another trend which is set to rock in the Spring/Summer 2012 fashion stakes, with top fashion bloggers ‘ombre-ing’ their hair such as Lily Melrose and Olivia Purvis, to Charlotte Ronson and Louis Vuitton, who have sent dip-dyed pieces down the runway.  This would look great with bloggers favourite American Apparel disco pants and black high top flatforms.

5. Rhinestone Chain Loop, £25 – Collar necklaces were big on the catwalks of Sass & Bide and Oscar De Le Renta. Despite this necklace being HUGE and probably weighing a tonne, it’s still amazing in my eyes!  It would look great under the collar of a crisp white shirt.

6. Stud Front Dipback Tee, £35 – I am in love with studded clothing and accessories at the moment! Let’s just say it’s my ‘inner-Balmain’ which is luring me to this trend. This tee can be dressed up for the day time – with some Boohoo black wet look leggings and Chelsea boots, or it can be dressed up to the nines with some luscious leather shorts from Missguided and River Island black and white heels, for a night out with the girls!

What are your thoughts on Miss Selfridge? Are there any items which take your fancy?
