SPRING 2013 beauty has gone back to the future with space age metallic lids, as seen on the catwalks of Giorgio Armani, Gucci and Versace. The make-up may seem reminiscent of Alien vs. Predator, but who can’t turn down a shimmering silver smokey eye?

If you can’t resist looking like It girl of the moment Cara Delevingne, then The Live Scene’s version of Chanel’s ultra-modern trend will make sure you’ll reach Top Model status in no time.

Apply 17’s BB cream for flawless skin – the added SPF 15 will also give you protection against the sun (or lack of it)! Now onto the brows! This season strong eyebrows are the go-to, with celebs such as Lily Collins, Camille Belle and The Vampire Diaries Nina Dobrev all leading the bushy brow brigade. Fill in your brows with Benefit’s Brow zing to get clean, smooth brows – but don’t go overboard, we don’t want to look like the cast of Desperate Scousewives!

Once you’re all browed out, sweep Daniel Sandler’s silver eye shadow across your lids, and up to the base of your eyebrows. Build up the colour until it turns into a dark metallic tone. To make yourself look more awake, try placing the shadow on the inner corners of your eyes. Then line them with Rimmel’s soft kohl pencil in Jet Black to make your peepers stand out. Finish your futuristic eyes off with two coats of Rimmel’s Volume Flash Scandal’Eyes mascara.

Even though it’s Spring, the cold weather can wreak havoc on your lips. Banish dry, chapped lips with Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes in Fraise. Check out my Lancôme juicy tube review here.

Will you be joining the space-age tribe this season?

IT’S that time of year again ladies! Here are The Live Scene’s top three party dresses for your New Year’s Eve night out!

nye21. Embellished Bodycon Dress, £89, Miss Selfridge – It’s the final day of Autumn/Winter 2012, so why not go out with a bang in this elegant embellished dress from Miss Selfridge? Embellishment is popular this season with Balmain’s collarless jackets, Jenny Packham’s shoulder encrusted dresses and Mark Fast’s intricately jewelled cover-ups turning heads at Fashion Week. Wear this dress with these nude heels from Bank to elongate those legs of yours, and finish your outfit off with some Barry M lipstick in Chestnut Red.

2. Light Purple V Neck Peplum Dress, £25, River Island – Designers loved the two P’s (that’s Peplums and Purples) this Autumn/Winter, with Prada, Gucci and Christopher Kane waving the purple flag, whilst Nicole Farhi, Mary Katrantzou and Burberry Prorsum took the peplum trend one step further with their exaggerated hip-line pieces. This River Island dress seems to emulate both of these trends – so for only £25 what more could you ask for?

3. Foiled Lace Skater Dress by Dress Up Topshop, £50, Topshop – Skater silhouettes were huge this season with Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen including this cut in their A/W collections. Complete this look with these black Topshop platforms and some sexy smokey eyes, courtesy of Models Own.

I shall be wearing either a cobalt blue cut-out dress from Desire, or a Topshop smart cream blouse with Republic’s Miso PU leggings! Oh and not forgetting my killer black Primark heels!

What outfit will you be wearing this New Year’s Eve?

This Wednesday’s Wishlist is all about my work wants!

ww1

From L-R: 1. Soul Cal Deluxe Trilby Hat, 2. Miso Spike & Bead Necklace, 3. Miso Heart Top, 4. Miso Horn Ring, 5. Miso Scallop Hem Highwaisted Shorts & 6. Miso Leopard Print Dip Hem Maxi Dress.

1. Soul Cal Deluxe Trilby Hat, £12 – As most of you know, I work at Republic, and at the moment I am in LOVE with what they have to offer for this Spring and Summer!  I have always wanted a trilby, but due to my genetics (I have such a small head); I have never found a hat which fits me properly. This trilby would be perfect for the upcoming festival season –  think Sienna Miller and Jameela Jamil. Now all I need is my festival ticket and I’m ready to go!

2. Miso Spike & Bead Necklace, £12 – I absolutely adore this collar necklace! It’s quite tribal-esque and as you all know tribal prints are in – just take inspiration from Burberry Prorsum, Emilio Pucci and Gucci, who rocked their prospective fashion weeks. This necklace would look great with the leopard print dip hem maxi dress, Miss Selfridge leather jacket and Deena and Ozzy platforms.

3. Miso Heart Top, £22 – I’m not really a pink fan, but as soon as I saw this pastel pink laser cut crop top I HAD to include it in my Wednesday Wishlist! This top hits two trends with one stone, with pretty pastels being ‘all the rage’ this season with Alexander McQueen, Meadham Kirchhoff and Chanel including these shades in their collections, and laser cut pieces storming the catwalks of Valentino and Louis Vuitton. This top will look great tucked into a Republic black dip hem maxi skirt, with a River Island light minty green blazer and ASOS white creepers.  Invest in yours now!

4. Miso Horn Ring, £8 – Many regular readers will know that I LOVE my rings! So it comes to no surprise that as soon as I saw this one, my mind instantly screamed: ‘Want, want, want!’ The horn is quite big, which is different to all the dainty rings you currently see in the high street. At £8 it is expensive for what it’s worth, but if you’re looking for something a bit different, then this is for you! Thank god for my staff discount!

5. Miso Scallop Hem Highwaisted Shorts, £28 – I have been looking for a decent pair of high waisted denim shorts for ages now, and these scallop hem shorts seem to ‘fit the bill’. Scallop hems were massive last season, and it seems that they are still on trend for this Spring/Summer too, with New York native Jill Stuart incorporating this into her designs.  I just need to add my Miso pastel pink top and my studded slippers, and I’m ready for work!

6. Miso Leopard Print Dip Hem Maxi Dress, £28 – Finally, I am currently coveting this gorgeous leopard print dip hem maxi!  I am in love with dip hem dresses and skirts at the moment, and this would make a perfect addition to my wardrobe! Animal print is another Spring/Summer trend which I love – take inspiration for outfits from Michael Kors and House of Holland, who both show that you don’t have to limit yourself when wearing this print. I would clash this dress with a floral blazer and toughen it up with these nude lace Boohoo boots.

Those are my work wants! What pieces are currently on your work’s wishlist?

Christmas is coming, and that could only mean one thing – time to dig out your best party dress!

One trend which has been storming the party dress world this season is jewel-toned colours. Yes, that’s right, from ruby to amethyst, to silver and sapphire, the fashion wolves are howling away if you don’t invest in one of these huge trend babies!

Jewel-toned dresses were huge on the catwalks of Gucci, Versace and Christian Dior, who all included them in their Autumn/Winter 2011 collections. Take inspiration from fashion power-house Versace, and invest in this sexy sapphire number from ASOS, or if you’re feeling a lighter shade of blue, then bag this Gucci-inspired Quiz dress.

Fashion designers were not the only ones who have spear-headed this trend. Celebrities such as Stacy Keibler, Mila Kunis and BBC Radio 1 presenter, Fearne Cotton, have sported a range of dresses across the jewel-toned spectrum. If you’re not lucky enough to be able to afford Stacy Keibler’s Maria Lucia Hohan number, then don’t worry, as Select have a sequin mesh amethyst dress just for you!  Going for gold? Then hit Topshop and invest in this one-shoulder dress, and you’ll be ready to hit the Christmas parties Fearne Cotton style!

Here are some of my favourite jewel-toned party dresses:

L-R1 * 2 * 3 * 4 * 5 * 6

My must-have pick of the bunch is the River Island pink Grecian dress! This dress is not only perfect for a night out with the girls, but it is also practical for special occasions too!

Now all you need is your killer party heels, and you’ll be walking in a winter wonderland before you know it!

What jewel-toned dresses are you currently coveting at the moment?

TULISAo2

This week’s Steal Her Style is all about new X Factor judge, Tulisa Contostavlos.  She may have been in the papers these past few weeks for her and Kelly Rowland’s ‘behind-the-scenes dramas’, but Tulisa tells it like it is, and people admire that. Here is a feature on her oh-so-fierce style!

Tulisa’s style is ever-changing. Remember when she started out gigging with N-Dubz and wore a pink tracksuit with a cap to match? Well, those days are long gone, as Tulisa is back with style vengeance, and you can steal her style for the snip of the designer’s price!

Red One Shoulder Bodycon Dress, £25, River Island One shoulder dresses were big on the Autumn/Winter 2011 catwalks of Gucci, Aminaka Wilmont, and Temperley London, who included them in their collections. So it comes to no surprise that Tulisa chose this beautiful one shoulder red dress to wear to the recent Cosmopolitan Awards!  You can bag a cheaper version of this Suzanne Neville dress for only £25 at River Island. Now that’s what I call a bargain!

Silver Tone Diamante Tassel Drop Earrings, £12, River Island Tulisa wore some intricate silver drop earrings to the Cosmo Awards, so I couldn’t help including these cheap look-a-likes from River Island into this week’s Steal Her Style feature! All you need to do now is tie your hair in a polished side bun, and like Tulisa, let your ears do the talking!

ASOS Pyramid Metal Tip Clutch, £15, ASOS This ASOS clutch is perfect to store all your girly essentials! It may not be Tulisa’s but this clutch is a perfect buy if you want her silver accessory for less!

Black Court Platform Shoes, £45, River Island With a smouldering statement dress, it was no wonder that Tulisa chose simple black courts to pair with this Suzanne Neville number. Buy these courts from River Island for a reasonably priced £45, and your legs will be looking longer within seconds of stepping out the house!

Lips in Confession, £8, Topshop A Tulisa outfit isn’t complete without some killer lipstick! Nab this £8 Topshop lipstick and you’ll be ready to try and pucker up to Tulisa’s boyfriend/band mate, Fazer before you know it!

That’s all for this week’s Steal Her Style feature! What do you think of Tulisa’s style? Or her judging style on the X Factor?

This week I have created three outfits from online savvy-store, ASOS. ASOS is the UK’S largest online-only fashion store and has been around for over 10 years, providing budding fashionistas with the latest trends priced from £5 to over £100.

These three looks are just snippets of what designers have predicted for the Autumn/Winter 2011 season. Think futuristic silhouettes, eccentric ladylike pieces and fabric clashes, just to name a few.  Enjoy.

Here they are from clock-wise round:

Outfit 1
ASOS Wiggle Mesh Body
, £30 – The number one Autumn/Winter 2011 trend which has graced the catwalks of Dolce & Gabbana, Felder Felder and Alexander McQueen is the fetish trend. I know what you’re thinking, ‘fetish??’ Yes, fetish. Despite the initial thought to fetish, the catwalks saw a more ‘demure’ fetish – so I’m not promoting handcuffs and whips before you ask! This body is oh-so-perfect for the ‘fetish’ look, and resembles this top by designer, Giles.  This is perfect for those who want to incorporate this trend into their wardrobe without needing to go over-the-top like sexy celebs; Rihanna and Britney Spears.

ASOS Premium Short with Leather Pockets, £50 – These lovely red shorts are perfect for achieving the ‘fetish’ look for Autumn/Winter 2011. The leather pockets add a sense of modesty to the trend with an added touch of contrasting colour-blocking with the dark red and black colour palette. These shorts are also a better substitution and are a more original choice than wearing black leather shorts, which with this look, are expected.

ASOS Style Vintage-Style Filigree Articulated Armour Ring, £10 – By adding a vintage gold armour ring to this outfit, it makes the outfit less ‘sexed-up’ and more modest-looking. I love gold rings, and I could not let this pretty vintage piece slip my eyes.

ASOS Passion Peep-Toe Court Shoe, £25 – With such a strong colour palette, adding any more colours to the mix would not mesh well. So these nude peep-toe shoes are perfect for not only elongating your legs (an excellent choice for shorties like me!) but it keeps any attention to the upper-half of the outfit which is where the trend is most frequent. This look goes to show you don’t need to wear hardly any clothes to feel ‘sexy’!

Outfit 2
Motel Ozlem Colour Block Dress
, £38 – Colour-blocking is still a big part of the Autumn/Winter 2011 season with designers such as Gucci, Haider Ackermann and Louis Vuitton having their own take on the trend. This colour block dress achieves this trend perfectly without going over-the-top – think a brighter version of this Prada dress at Milan Fashion week, without the clashing print.

ASOS Leather Cropped Blazer, £100 – A cropped leather blazer ‘toughens’ up this party look and clashes with this dress perfectly. At £100, it is definitely an investment piece which can be used for a whole load of different looks from toughening up pretty floral dresses, to achieving this season’s ‘fetish’ look. It is safe to say that this is most definitely money well spent.

Illamasqua Lipstick in Climax, £15.50 – Forget Mary Katranzou pastel pink lips and statement DSquared2 red lips, it’s all about 90s grunge/ 1970s-inspired lip shades! Not convinced? This beauty trend was at the forefront of Autumn/Winter 2011 fashion shows with Marc Jacobs and YSL leading the shade down the catwalk of Milan, for example. This lipstick will complement the leather blazer perfectly.

ASOS Weave Metal Tip Envelope Clutch, £30 – Woven accessories are a huge Spring/Summer 2011 trend at the moment with high-street stores such as Topshop, incorporating this material into their bags and hats. So I had to include this current trend into outfit two! This woven envelope clutch clashes with the leather blazer and colour block dress with ease, making the outfit more unique and original than if I had accessorized the dress differently.

ASOS Swatch Lace-up Block Heel  Shoe, £45 – This lace-up block heel shoe makes me think of Alexa Chung, a style icon who totally rocks the indie/vintage look! If you want to make like Alexa, then this shoe is definitely for you. Not only can it complete and complement this outfit effortlessly, these shoes can be dressed up with this dress, but can be dressed down with skinny jeans for the casual day look.

Outfit 3
ASOS Crop Trouser in Metallic Finish, £40 – Fashion forecasters have predicted the future – literally! The ‘futuristic’ look is another big trend which has hit the Autumn/Winter 2011 catwalks with a metallic palette of clothing from Calvin Klein to strong silhouette pieces as seen on Viktor & Rolf and Balmain models. So these silver metallic crop trousers had to be included in the third and final outfit in this week’s wishlist! The key to this look is simplistic pieces and strong colours which will balance each other rather than having loads of clashing prints.

ASOS Blue Cropped Jumper, £30 – A blue cropped jumper will look great with the silver trousers and shows that you don’t have to dress up too much with this futuristic trend, and that you can be casual too!

ASOS Statement Metal and Multi-Coloured Feather Necklace, £25 – A metal and multi-coloured necklace will add more subtle colour to this third outfit, again, without going ‘over-the-top’. Feathers are still on trend for the Spring/Summer 2011 season, so it would be rude not to include them into this look.  This statement necklace is the only necessary accessory you need to complete this outfit, adding any more accessories would just kill the look.

Barry M Lip Paint in Dolly Pink, £4.50 – This pretty pastel pink shade will contrast the blue jumper flawlessly, leaving your lips to in-fact, do the talking. With make-up such as this making an impact on this outfit, who needs loads of accessories?

ASOS Defend Canvas & Suede High Top Trainers, £30 – Whoever thought high top trainers were too ‘casual’ were wrong. These trainers are the finishing touch to this third look, which not only allows you to achieve the comfortable casual look, but you will look fashionable and on-trend at the same time.

That is another wishlist done for this week. Next week I will be scouring the Miss Selfridge website to create three on-trend looks. I bet your shaking with excitement

This week I decided to raid the Urban Outfitters website. As per-usual, they never fail to deliver when it comes to producing exotic, sought-after items.

As you can see, I love the UO headgear! With the majority of famous festivals occurring this week, I thought the ‘festival’ theme would work perfectly with the three outfits I have created.

Ps.
Apologies for the sudden lack of posts! I have been very busy these past couple of weeks due to having a massive clear-out. However, I have been brewing more blog ideas, so look forward to those in the next coming weeks!

Here are the items from clockwise-round:

Outfit 1
Straw Hat with Grosgrain Band, £20 – I’m not usually a hat person, apart from the odd winter beanie hat and ‘cowboy’ hat for a fancy dress night out. However, with festival season here, what item is better for protecting your hair from the sun than a nice, simple, straw hat like this one?

BDG Breezy Boyfriend Shirt, £38 – I love, love, love this shirt! I’m usually a check shirt sort-of-girl but I couldn’t let this stripy boyfriend shirt pass me by. This, tucked into the gorgeous denim shorts below makes for a style-savvy festival outfit.

Bitching & Junkfood Feather Pocket Shorts, £70 – Okay, so £70 is a bit steep for denim shorts. However, they’re no ordinary denim shorts. They’re denim shorts WITH feathers on the pockets. This will definitely make you stand out from the crowd at your local music gathering!

Hunter Tall Original Boot, £40 Kate Moss is one notable fashionista who made these boots catch the spotlight when she went to Glastonbury Festival all those years ago. Other celebs followed suit, and now everyone who can afford these babies now owns a pair. Originally £69, these wellingtons have now been reduced to a more reasonable price of £40. Jackpot!

Outfit 2
Bitching & Junkfood Rose Crochet Headdress, £115 – This Bitching & Junkfood headdress may be expensive, but feather headdresses are the future according to Bitching & Junkfood designers; Marion and Kath. This headdress would be perfect for any festival you go to, plus it makes you stand out from the crowd. Headdresses are beginning to get so popular even Primark has a £2 version of a feather headdress!

Kimchi & Blue Daisy Playsuit, £55 – LWDs (Little White Dresses) took the Spring/Summer 2011 catwalks by storm with designers such as Gucci and Givenchy creating simple and sophisticated white dresses which can either be dressed up for night time or dressed down. Seeing as I like to be a bit different, I decided to settle on this LWP (Little White Playsuit) which will probably get muddy at festivals, but I am sure as hell will look good!

Stag Bunny & Owl Rings, £14 – As you all know, I love my jewellery at the moment, and whilst I like to keep this outfit simple, I think a few rings will complete the outfit. These cute rings, which come in a pack of three (hence the price), stacked on one finger will show festi-goers that I mean business in the fashion stakes!

Tan Bead Cuff Sandal, £18 – I instantly fell in love with these sandals as soon as I saw them on the UO website. They were originally £38, so for £18, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to incorporate these into my second outfit.

Outfit 3
Floppy Bow Hat, £22 – This web exclusive is just up my hat street! It’s different and has a sort of ‘seventies’ feel which is what I am basing this third outfit on.

Plastic Wing Frame Sunglasses, £16 – Ever since I saw Katy Perry sport these sunnies, I couldn’t help but want my own pair! These, teamed with the floppy bow hat not only protect you from the sun, but will make you the envy of your friends’ á la Katy Perry style.

Boy London Leave the Boy Alone Tee, £35 – Simple logo tees are the base for a stylish and simple outfit. This, tucked into the polka dot wide legged trousers below, will modernise this ‘seventies’ outfit without making you look like a Desperate Housewife in the process.

Pins & Needles Polka Dot Wide Legged Trousers, £60 – These wide legged trousers are the essence of this ‘seventies’ outfit. The polka dot pattern makes me feel all summery, and this teamed with the nude lace up peep toe shoes is perfect for a special summer occasion.

Deena & Ozzy Nude Lace up Peep Toe Shoes, £50– Originally £95, now reduced to £50, is the final item which completes this outfit. I would have gone for flats if I wasn’t a shorty. These shoe boots can be dressed up for a night out in the town or can be dressed down such as this outfit for a nice summer pub lunch.

There you have it! This week’s Urban Outfitters wishlist has now been complete. Look forward to next week’s wishlist which includes three outfits I have created from diverse store; Republic.
