WHEN it was announced last year that the former creative director of Dior Homme, Hedi Slimane, would replace Stefano Pilati at the helm of the YSL brand, everyone was eager to see what the Frenchman would do. Cue one rebrand and one hell of an Autumn/Winter ready to wear collection.

Fishnets, black eyeliner and the ‘bedhead look’ took centre stage at Slimane’s first A/W show under the Saint Laurent name. From patterned mohair cardigans to biker jackets and boyfriend blazers, no one did grunge as well as this French fashion house. And we mean no one.

Grunge may have appeared on the catwalk before (Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis 1992, Felder Felder 2008), but Slimine’s vision made grunge likable again, and not just for the emo elite. Don’t believe me? Then take a look for yourselves:

With Christmas only a day away, here are my six favourite must-have items! Hint hint!

1. Petites Biker Trench, £85, Miss Selfridge – I have been looking for a nice coat for ages, and this Miss Selfridge biker trench is perfect to keep me going this Winter! I know, I know, it doesn’t exactly scream out ‘WINTER COAT’, but for £85 it’s not only on trend – the leather touch reminds me of DKNY – but I can also layer it up with my gorgeous green tartan scarf too!

2. Loverdose by Diesel, £28.50 for 30ml, The Perfume Shop – Loverdose is my favourite perfume in the entire world, so how could I not add this into my Christmas wishlist? It’s perfectly packaged and I love its floral scent! One of my best friends bought me this for my 21st birthday, but you can never have too much perfume, right?

3. White Friendship Bracelet By Marc By Marc Jacobs, £40, Harvey Nichols – I’m not usually into my designer gear (I’m more of a high street/vintage girl), but I love this Marc by Marc Jacobs friendship bracelet! It’s so simple but yet sophisticated, and it will go with anything and everything!

4. Alexander Wang Knockoff Bag, £37.99, eBay – Remember last year’s Christmas wishlist, where I had my eyes set on a gorgeous leather multi-strap Alexander Wag tote? Well here is the knock-off version! It may not be the real thing, but I would love to get my hands on it!

5. Project #3 Black Sequin Body, £39, Miss Selfridge – You may have noticed that Miss Selfridge is one of my favourite shops, and as I was having my daily peruse of their website, my eyes were instantly drawn to this gorgeous sequin body! At £39 it may be pricey, but add these Missguided leather shorts and some peep-toe shoe boots from River Island, and you’ll be Belle of the New Year’s Eve Ball!

6. Black Embellished Shorts, £45, River Island – And finally, I have been after some high-waisted embellished shorts for a while now, and these are the PERFECT pair for me! Embellishment is big this season with the likes of Balmain, Jenny Packham and Mark Fast sending their models down the runway with these party-inspired pieces. Just add a plain white H&M vest, and these killer Topshop heels to finish the outfit off.

What’s on your Christmas wishlist this year?

Here are a couple outfits I wore whilst I was on holiday in Malta!

Maxi Dress Miss Selfridge
Necklace Primark
Bucket Bag Ebay
Shoes Republic
Black Vest New Look
Maxi Skirt Miss Selfridge
Shoes Republic

You can probably guess that I wore both of these outfits for a meal/night out! I am in love with my Miss Selfridge mint maxi! I wore this to my cousin’s wedding earlier this year, and I just HAD to wear it on holiday! As for my other outfit, this deep, dark red maxi skirt is so versatile! I can wear it for a night out, like I did here, or I can dress it down with a tucked in Topshop band tee and some Converse for uni!

Or just take some S/S inspiration from Valentino, Kanye West and Balmain by including minimalistic furs and accessories for the hot sizzling summer evening. If you’re more of an A/W girl, make like Acne and Unique and dress down your leather with a grey colour palette.

Dear Diary;

I hope everyone had a lovely Jubilee weekend! After an amazing four day break, I am back at Look for my third week. Here is yesterday’s outfit, and a little bit about what I got up to this weekend!

wed

From Top to Bottom: Top – TOPSHOP, Necklace – PRIMARK, Scrabble Initial Ring – EBAY, Gold Cross Ring – URBAN OUTFITTERS & Heart Print Trousers – REPUBLIC.

These past four days have been amazing! On Sunday me and Ali decided to brave the ‘Jubileers’, and head down to London to celebrate his birthday. We hit M&M World and managed to have our photo taken with Yellow (he’s my favourite), and I bought Ali a little souvenir in the form of a t-shirt! For lunch we headed to a beautiful Lebanese restaurant in Covent Garden. It was a nice change from the usual Italian, Chinese and other places which we usually go to – the food is sooo healthy and we had managed to get two starters for free! Bargain! Next stop was Chelsea and Kensington to try and hit the charity shops, but we had no luck in finding any. On the plus side we did see Freddie Ljungberg walking his dog near Sloane Square! ~Cue star struck moment~ On the way home we decided to see what all the fuss was about, by heading to Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford. It was safe to say that me and Ali weren’t impressed – Northern shopping centres definitely trumps the South on this front IMO.

Below is a little ‘my day in London photos’, enjoy!

From Left to Right: Me and Ali, M&M World, Ali, Ali and Me with ‘Yellow’, Leicester Square, Falafel Hummus, My roasted lamb with rice, Ali’s lamb cutlets with chips, A chocolate crepe from Kensington Crepe café, Knightsbridge & Me and Ali again.

I apologise that this is such a picture/word heavy post; I usually don’t have very much to say!

Dear Diary;

This weekend I decided to splash out on a new dress, courtesy of Next. Here is a quick post on what I bought, and what I got up to yesterday!

From Top to Bottom: Crop leather jacket – H&M Kids, Flower and Animal Print Dress – C/O NEXT, Black spotty tights – MISS SELFRIDGE, Rosemary bead cross necklace – EBAY & Black Boots – PEACOCKS.

This weekend I did a little bit of shopping, and after what seemed ages wondering around Next’s Ipswich store (what can I say, I’m deffo a browser), I finally decided to buy this lovely animal print/floral body con dress, which was only £24! This dress is not only perfect for the daytime, but I can also dress it up with some killer black heels for a night out too! I would have bought so many things in there, but unfortunately my bank balance says otherwise! I’m not usually into body con dresses, but this one (which was loose, I bought it in a size 12 – I’m usually an 8-10 – because I preferred it a bit baggier), is so nice and definitely made me stand out from the crowd at Look! I teamed it with my beloved H&M Kids leather jacket, which has practically been glued to my body since I bought it!

Yesterday was a very busy day, our fashion cupboard was slowly building up with more and more returns, but there is no doubt we’ll try and blitz it all today! Me, Lauren and Kat all grabbed some delicious smoothies from Crussh – I recommend the Mango Passion flavour – and enjoyed a nice lunch in the sun! The day was topped off nicely when I had managed to get an early train home – yay!

I would like to say hello to all my new twitter and blog followers! It’s hard to believe that anyone reads my blog, so thank you very much for taking the time to read/glance/follow it. I’m so grateful!

Lyrics: Jessie J – Who You Are

This short fashion feature is all about my ring collection!

From L-R: Tape Measure [Topman], Scrabble Initial [EBay], Deer [Primark], Armour [Primark], Cross [Urban Outfitters], Moustache [Topshop], LOVE [River Island] & Heart [Greggs – Free].

Most of you probably know by now that I LOVE gold jewellery, hence why most of these rings are in that luxurious colour. My favourites have to be the tape measure, LOVE and Scrabble rings because they are so versatile, and I wear them with most of my outfits. You’re probably wondering why the tape measure ring is from Topman – they have in my opinion, better and more ‘unique’ jewellery than Topshop! So if you’re looking for something different, head there! My heart ring was given to me for free from Greggs on Valentine’s Day last year; it’s more of a novelty ring than an ‘everyday’ one like the others. As you can see it’s not really a ‘collection’, so hopefully when the next student loan comes in, I can splash out on some more rings!

So that’s my ring collection! What rings do you have? Is your collection small like mine or is your jewellery box oozing with rings?
