Here is another new feature for The Live Scene, called Steal Her Style. I will choose a style icon, and scour the web to try and find something similar to what she is wearing, so you can dress like your favourite celeb!

One of my favourite style icons is Katy Perry. She just oozes sexiness and is one of my not-so-secret girl crushes! From her unique stage outfits (she never wears the same outfit twice when she’s performing) to trips to the shop, Katy is the definition of someone who does not follow the fashion crowd.

So for my first ‘Steal Her Style’ outfit, I thought i should try and find similar items to what Katy wore to Coachella Festival in April this year. Katy clearly went for the minimal look with her white lace maxi peplum dress and her few accessories. Her outfit goes to show that you don’t need to ‘dress up’ at a festival and that with one on-trend piece; you can be an instant winner in the eyes of fashion critics everywhere.

Here is what Katy wore on the left-hand side of the image, and what I found similar on the right-hand side:
katyperryCream Lace Peplum Dress, £10, Dorothy Perkins – Even though I couldn’t find a lace maxi peplum dress, this was the next best thing and for £10, this Dorothy Perkins dress is definitely worth it! LWDs (little white dresses) were all over the Spring/Summer 2011 catwalks with Adam by Adam Lippes, Af Vandevorst and Vivienne Westwood boasting their own take on the stylish trend. This goes to show that you don’t need a maxi à la Perry to rock the festival look, just look at how Adam Lippes’ LWD can do it!

Spotty Bow Head wrap, £3.99, New Look – Quirky headbands have been in fashion since 2009 when Louis Vuitton made his models stroll down the runway with giant ‘bunny’ headbands on. Since then, the headbands have gotten smaller and more colourful, from floral prints to polka dot denim – the high street stores took note and made Louis Vuitton’s headbands more accessible. I was glad when Katy showcased her polka dot headband at Coachella as I found this very similar New Look headband, which at £3.99 will give Katy a run for her money!

Black Cat Eye Sunglasses, £5, Dorothy Perkins – Katy has always been a fan of cat eye sunglasses from promoting her singles in London to jogging in LA, they seem to be one of her favourite accessories. So I had to include these in Steal Her Style! Despite Katy sporting some very nice black oversized sunnies, I opted for these cheap cat eye ones from Dorothy Perkins instead.

Mega Pearl Rope Necklace, £8, Dorothy Perkins – Due to the intricate lace pattern on her peplum dress, Katy chose to add minimal accessories to her look, such as a long pearl necklace. I came across this chic necklace from you guessed it – Dorothy Perkins – for a small £8! This fits the bill perfectly!

Beige Jean Belt, £18, River Island – Katy has got an amazing body, so she had to show off her curves in this maxi dress somehow! By wearing a beige and cream skinny belt, Katy can not only look tall and elegant, but nice and curvy too. This £18 beige jean belt from River Island is similar to Katy’s with the pearly detailed section, and they match the necklace too!

Gold Plaited Strap Sandals, £28, Dorothy Perkins – The last fashion piece to achieve Katy Perry’s look are these wonderful gold plaited strap sandals. Katy wears very light gold sandals, however these ones brighten your outfit up whilst making you look like Grecian goddess like model Hilary Rhoda. At £28, these are the most expensive item on the list. However, these sandals are perfect for summer (while it’s still here) and they don’t break the budget too much.

That is my very first Steal Her Style feature done and I would be very grateful if you could all tell me what you think of it? Hopefully this will end up being a regular fashion feature like This Week’s Wishlist.

This week I focus on Miss Selfridge’s vintage section and create three looks from what they have to offer.

According to Miss Selfridge, they ‘travel the world in search of vintage treasures’ and they’ve found some right gems too!  From embellished tops to classic Macs, these steals from the vintage section will nail the Autumn/Winter 2011 trends on the head!

Here are my three outfits below, with the items being from clock-wise round:

Outfit 1
VINTAGE!
Cream Cute Lace Blouse, £35 – This outfit is all about the new ‘ladylike’ trend which has emerged on the catwalks of 3.1 Phillip Lim and Jean Paul Gaultier. As ever on The Live Scene, I try to twist the trend to fit into my style. This lovely vintage cream blouse is ladylike in itself with the material made out of delicate lace (a Spring/Summer 2011 trend) and the burgundy bow-tie adds a touch of ladylike-meets-boyish glamour. At £35 this is definitely going to get snapped up by me!

VINTAGE! Petites Camel Peg Leg Trouser, £38 – This Autumn/Winter 2011 season, it’s all about the ‘modern trouser’. A piece which is the staple of your Autumn/Winter wardrobe that can be worn in so many looks. This camel peg leg trouser is my ‘modern trouser’, and adds to the ‘ladylike’ trend I am trying to achieve here. Designers ‘modern trousers’ include: Chanel’s wide leg trouser, Stella McCartney’s slim-leg trouser and Proenza Schouler’s print trouser.

VINTAGE! Secret Burgundy T-Bar Platform, £42 – T-bar platforms were one of the ‘must-have’ shoes on show during the Autumn/Winter 2011 fashion weeks. These gorgeous burgundy platforms match the bow-tie on the cream blouse perfectly, and elongate those pins of yours!

VINTAGE! Burgundy Leather Satchel Bag, £45 – I instantly fell in love with this satchel as soon as I saw it! This burgundy bag matches the shoes and the bow-tie effortlessly, and completes the outfit. This outfit has the perfect ‘ladylike-meets-boyish’ style which is what I was going for, and shows that you don’t need to be as eccentric in the ladylike department as Christian Dior to achieve this trend!

Outfit 2
VINTAGE!
Black Embellished Dress, £85 – Love, love, love this dress! At £85, it is a hefty price, however the dress oozes glamour (and don’t worry it’s not see through, there is a lining behind the embellishments!) The dress also reminds me of the new fetish trend which has appeared on the catwalks of Emanuel Ungaro, Chanel and the even sexier Felder Felder.  This dress is definitely a statement piece, which you can get a lot of use out of, as you can accessorize differently every time you wear it.

Khaki Animal Hood Parka, £85 – A parka you ask? As crazy as it sounds, designers from Alexander Wang to Joseph Altuzarra nailed this new trend perfectly. This parka from Miss Selfridge clashes with the going out dress flawlessly, and when you’re on a night out, what’s better to keep you warm? The inspiration behind this new trend is none other than supermodel Kate Moss. Kate Moss always likes to play differently when it comes to fashion, and when she wore her parka over her evening dress, the designers took note. With winter coming up, this would be the perfect but stylish cover up.

VINTAGE! Pearl Articulated Ring, £10 – Of course, I had to include a ring in This week’s wishlist! This vintage armour ring makes the outfit look more ‘going out chic’ rather than ‘morning after mess’. This ring with the studded shoes is all the glamour you need to accompany the dress, and at £10, this vintage piece is a bargain!

VINTAGE! Punk Leather Stud Ballerina, £42 – These punk studded flats are the perfect finish to outfit two. Not only do they match with the vintage articulated ring, they remind me of stylish savvies such as Nicky Hilton and Linda Evangelista. Definitely worthy of a purchase!

Outfit 3
VINTAGE!
Petites Sand Triple Collar Blouse, £30 – Outfit three is all about the boyish look meets back-to-school with a hint of colour-blocking. This triple collar blouse is the epitome of achieving the boyish look. By teaming it with the teal skirt, it will not only make you look on trend, but it can be dressed up for a night out, or it can be dressed down as it is for a casual stroll in the shopping centre. Think Dolce and Gabbana but more ‘out there’!

VINTAGE! Teal Knee Box Pleat Skirt, £32 – This vintage teal knee box skirt will add to the boyish meets back-to-school look I am trying to achieve here as well as highlighting the colour block trend. This instantly makes you look geek chic with the tan box bag and sunglasses as opposed to Plain Jane.

VINTAGE! Black Circle Frame Sunglasses, £3 – These simple sunglasses make the look more feminine, and because they’re only £3, no bargainista would say no! Nuff’ said.

VINTAGE! Tan Box Bag, £28 – This lovely and geeky tan box bag is perfect for achieving the boyish meets back-to-school look!  The dark brown border on the bag subtly matches the chocolate leather wedges and the brown belt on the teal skirt. The box itself is quite big, so it can fit your everyday essentials with ease. Practical AND fashionable… what more can you ask for?!

VINTAGE! Patsy Chocolate Leather Wedge, £68 – Last but not least is these beautiful chocolate leather wedges which finish the look off perfectly. The wedge gives you more height, and allows you to show off your legs a bit more, as well as making the look less masculine. At £68, these wedges should definitely have a place in your shoedrobe!

That is another weekly wishlist done; tune in next week where I will be scouring the New Look website to create three on-trend outfits for all of you budding fashionistas out there!
