This week’s Wednesday Wishlist is a River Island edition!

River Island is one of my favourite shops, and believe it or not, I used to work there! So it comes to no surprise that I HAD to make a special River Island edition for this Wednesday’s Wishlist! I have picked six of my favourite items which not only showcase the latest Spring/Summer 2012 trends, but also show off my personal style too.

From L-R: 1. Gold Leaf Headband, 2. Navy Boat High Waisted Print Leggings, 3. Black Quilted Wellies, 4. Cream Chelsea Girl Paisley Dress, 5. Black Floral Print Sweat Top & 6. Gold Tone Diamond Pendant Necklace.

O1. Gold Leaf Headband, £4 – Headgear was heavily featured this Spring/Summer 2012 on the catwalks of Louis Vuitton, Louise Gray and Alexander McQueen. So this inspired me to include this delicate gold leaf headband into the mix this week! This headband would be perfect for a casual stroll the park (if Preston weather permits), as well as dressing up for a night on the town with the girls!

O2. Navy Boat High Waisted Print Leggings, £16 – These navy boat leggings are so different to the usual plain leggings/pants that I go for! I haven’t really seen the appeal of printed pants, however, when these boat ones caught my eye, I wanted them straight away! Printed pants are a HUGE trend this Spring/Summer with the Kings and Queens of print; Peter Pilotto, Jonathan Saunders and Jil Sander including them in their collections. These leggings would look great with a Republic printed vest and some Jeffrey Campbell’s for a night out, or it can be dressed down for daytime with black flatforms and a burnt out vest from Toppers.

O3. Black Quilted Wellies, £27 – I know what you’re thinking: ‘Why wellies?  It’s not festival season yet!’ Well the inspiration to include these black quilted babies came from an encounter with a girl at my local takeaway. It was a normal Prestonian day (windy and rather wet) and this fashionable girl strutted into the takeaway wearing some simple, plain wellies with her outfit. This gave me the inspiration to trawl through the River website to search for a pair. After minutes of searching, I finally came across this black quilted version and the words ‘WANT WANT WANT’ instantly screamed in my mind. These wellies are my comfy version of the knee-high boot, and are a perfect addition to my shoe collection – hey, it’s perfectly acceptable to wear wellies in a place like Preston, right?

O4. Cream Chelsea Girl Paisley Dress, £25 – I am love with the ‘dainty doll’ look at the moment, so when this cream Chelsea girl dress caught my eye, I instantly took a shining to it! Cream is big this season with Christopher Kane, Prada and Chanel all including this shade in their S/S 2012 designs. This dress can be accessorised with the gold leaf headband above, to achieve a truly ‘girly’ look, or it can be dressed up with these Urban Outfitters’ wedges and an ASOS ‘tough’ leather jacket for a gig!

O5. Black Floral Print Sweat Top, £28 – Floral is back again for this Spring/Summer with Alexander Wang, Dolce & Gabbana and Mary Katrantzou including this blooming print in their collections. This sweat top can be teamed up with the navy boat leggings for a cool clash look, or it can be worn with a Republic crisp white shirt underneath it, with these Bitching and Junkfood denim shorts to complete the outfit!

O6. Gold Tone Diamond Pendant Necklace, £10 – This necklace reminds me of the Superman logo – as some of you may know, I am a HUGE fan of TV series Smallville at the moment – so I just HAD to include this pendant into my wishlist! I prefer big pendants and long necklaces to small, dainty ones, so this version would be perfect for my ever-growing collection of gold necklaces!

That’s all for this Wednesday’s wishlist! What are you guys currently craving in the fashion/beauty stakes?

Earlier this week we saw the online launch of global superstar (and not forgetting pregnant) Beyoncé Knowles and mother, Tina Knowles’s House of Deréon collection at fashion-forward store, Selfridges.

The first House of Deréon brand began in Louisiana over 85 years ago, and was inspired by Beyoncé’s grandmother, Agnés Deréon. Ms Deréon was working in the fashion industry as a skilled seamstress and dressmaker, and was a very talented woman whose fashion tastes have influenced Tina and Beyoncé to collaborate and bring stylish pieces to women everywhere. Whilst Tina Knowles is the creative director behind the collection, daughter Beyoncé works with her mum to develop tantalizing designs to mouth water the taste buds of many fashionistas.

I had a cheeky look at the duo’s designs, and I must say I am impressed at the range of exotic prints and classic black pieces that are on offer!

Here are a few of my favourite pieces of clothing from the House of Deréon range exclusive to Selfridges:

Panelled Dress, £85 – A LBD is required in every girl’s wardrobe so this sexy lace number would be perfect for a girl’s night out or a hot date with your man! This dress is a subtle take on the Autumn/Winter fetish trend, which was seen on the catwalks of Louis Vuitton, Jason Wu and the even more revealing Emanuel Ungaro! I would wear this classic House of Deréon dress with these delicious Dalmatian print boots from Topshop Unique and a crystal cape statement necklace from River Island.

Studded Top, £50 – Being a bit of a ‘rocker girl’, I just had to incorporate this studded pocket vest from Beyoncé’s new Autumn/Winter 2011 collection! This top can be included in several different outfits, for example, you can team it with these Bitching & Junkfood stud spiked denim shorts from Urban Outfitters and Republic hiker heel boots for the ‘rocker girl’ look as seen on the catwalks of Alexander Wang and Giles. You can also pair the studded top with this A|Wear burgundy belted mini skirt from ASOS, for a night out on the town!

Panelled Leggings, £70 – Last but not least are these gorgeous printed panelled leggings for a pricey £70! These leggings are perfect if you want to achieve the current Autumn/Winter print trend, but without being head-to-toe in Dalmatian, polka dots or Navajo.

This beautiful Autumn/Winter collection will be available at the Birmingham, London and Manchester Trafford stores, as well as on the Selfridges website. I suggest you check out the House of Deréon brand today!

This week I decided to raid the Urban Outfitters website. As per-usual, they never fail to deliver when it comes to producing exotic, sought-after items.

As you can see, I love the UO headgear! With the majority of famous festivals occurring this week, I thought the ‘festival’ theme would work perfectly with the three outfits I have created.

Ps.
Apologies for the sudden lack of posts! I have been very busy these past couple of weeks due to having a massive clear-out. However, I have been brewing more blog ideas, so look forward to those in the next coming weeks!

Here are the items from clockwise-round:

Outfit 1
Straw Hat with Grosgrain Band, £20 – I’m not usually a hat person, apart from the odd winter beanie hat and ‘cowboy’ hat for a fancy dress night out. However, with festival season here, what item is better for protecting your hair from the sun than a nice, simple, straw hat like this one?

BDG Breezy Boyfriend Shirt, £38 – I love, love, love this shirt! I’m usually a check shirt sort-of-girl but I couldn’t let this stripy boyfriend shirt pass me by. This, tucked into the gorgeous denim shorts below makes for a style-savvy festival outfit.

Bitching & Junkfood Feather Pocket Shorts, £70 – Okay, so £70 is a bit steep for denim shorts. However, they’re no ordinary denim shorts. They’re denim shorts WITH feathers on the pockets. This will definitely make you stand out from the crowd at your local music gathering!

Hunter Tall Original Boot, £40 Kate Moss is one notable fashionista who made these boots catch the spotlight when she went to Glastonbury Festival all those years ago. Other celebs followed suit, and now everyone who can afford these babies now owns a pair. Originally £69, these wellingtons have now been reduced to a more reasonable price of £40. Jackpot!

Outfit 2
Bitching & Junkfood Rose Crochet Headdress, £115 – This Bitching & Junkfood headdress may be expensive, but feather headdresses are the future according to Bitching & Junkfood designers; Marion and Kath. This headdress would be perfect for any festival you go to, plus it makes you stand out from the crowd. Headdresses are beginning to get so popular even Primark has a £2 version of a feather headdress!

Kimchi & Blue Daisy Playsuit, £55 – LWDs (Little White Dresses) took the Spring/Summer 2011 catwalks by storm with designers such as Gucci and Givenchy creating simple and sophisticated white dresses which can either be dressed up for night time or dressed down. Seeing as I like to be a bit different, I decided to settle on this LWP (Little White Playsuit) which will probably get muddy at festivals, but I am sure as hell will look good!

Stag Bunny & Owl Rings, £14 – As you all know, I love my jewellery at the moment, and whilst I like to keep this outfit simple, I think a few rings will complete the outfit. These cute rings, which come in a pack of three (hence the price), stacked on one finger will show festi-goers that I mean business in the fashion stakes!

Tan Bead Cuff Sandal, £18 – I instantly fell in love with these sandals as soon as I saw them on the UO website. They were originally £38, so for £18, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to incorporate these into my second outfit.

Outfit 3
Floppy Bow Hat, £22 – This web exclusive is just up my hat street! It’s different and has a sort of ‘seventies’ feel which is what I am basing this third outfit on.

Plastic Wing Frame Sunglasses, £16 – Ever since I saw Katy Perry sport these sunnies, I couldn’t help but want my own pair! These, teamed with the floppy bow hat not only protect you from the sun, but will make you the envy of your friends’ á la Katy Perry style.

Boy London Leave the Boy Alone Tee, £35 – Simple logo tees are the base for a stylish and simple outfit. This, tucked into the polka dot wide legged trousers below, will modernise this ‘seventies’ outfit without making you look like a Desperate Housewife in the process.

Pins & Needles Polka Dot Wide Legged Trousers, £60 – These wide legged trousers are the essence of this ‘seventies’ outfit. The polka dot pattern makes me feel all summery, and this teamed with the nude lace up peep toe shoes is perfect for a special summer occasion.

Deena & Ozzy Nude Lace up Peep Toe Shoes, £50– Originally £95, now reduced to £50, is the final item which completes this outfit. I would have gone for flats if I wasn’t a shorty. These shoe boots can be dressed up for a night out in the town or can be dressed down such as this outfit for a nice summer pub lunch.

There you have it! This week’s Urban Outfitters wishlist has now been complete. Look forward to next week’s wishlist which includes three outfits I have created from diverse store; Republic.
