Woke up feeling quite fresh this morning after last night’s antics and was freezing cold! A nice warm shower in the camp’s solo bathrooms (the best KOA bathrooms we’ve been to so far), however, definitely made me feel better for our drive to Nevada!
We did our standard routine of packing up out tents (practically pros now), had breakfast and headed into the van for a nine hour (yup, you read that right), NINE hour drive. On the way we stopped at an outdoor shop and had lunch outside a random museum before arriving at our campsite.
elko, nevada desert
There were no words to describe this campsite. Apart from: ‘oh my gosh, we’re all gonna die in some desert horror movie!’ The site was empty, filled with tumbleweed, weird bugs and the odd snake… To perk us up a bit, Steve initiated a water fight which soon made us feel a lot better. Annalie, Rob, Emma and Steph all cooked a beef stroganoff and a few of us went to the lake to watch the sunset and have a splash around.
We ended the night the only way we knew how, drinking games (I’ve never drunken so much on so many nights consecutively until this trip), before heading to bed and California tomorrow!
