It’s time to enter Bear Country with a two-day visit to our second national park on our trek, Yellowstone.

Before we set off to the world’s first national park, we continued our ‘Wild West’ experience with a visit to Buffalo Bill’s Old Trail Town. As a major history buff, this visit was just right up my street! We got to see the original and traditional cabins, barns and saloons that were there in the original Cody, Wyoming. We even saw some cute rabbits to add to the ambience!

linebreak After the trail town we stopped at Walmart to get food for the next two days. Continuing our prank war, me and Polly ‘sneakily’ bought some whipped cream so we could give the boys a nice whipped cream ‘pie’ in the face. We previously bought one for when we were in Cody but it ‘mysteriously’ disappeared…

When we arrived at Yellowstone, there was no stopping Beer Steve. We got straight out of the van and headed to Dragon Mouth’s Spring, where we saw our first of many bison!

That’s one thing I found out about myself on this trip – I’m not good at gauge walking! David had to help me get out as I kept falling in and getting pulled downstream by the current. The river itself though was really cool – it even had spots where the water was boiling hot and was nice and refreshing after a long day (hence its title!)

Once we had headed into camp and set up our tents, me and Polly decided to whack the whipped cream out and surprise the boys. Unfortunately our giggling got in the way again and we ended up covered in it (Polly more so than me – woo) – with yesterday’s whipped cream bottle that was stolen in the mix. I continued my trend of tripping and falling over (those damn tent poles) and we admitted defeat. Boy this prank war was not going well!

After cleaning ourselves up, we played drinking games until the early hours and then went to bed, ready for our big hike tomorrow!
