LAST month I moved to London for two weeks to intern at fashion business magazine Drapers. I thought that I should share my London photo diary with you, here goes!
A group of us from uni had work experience lined up in London, so after our first day we decided to meet up at Pizza Express in China Town (unusual, I know!), for a meal and a few drinks. I have to say that I have never laughed so much in my life – the things we were discussing at the table was definitely not restaurant-friendly to say the least! Most of us had a really good first day, and we were eager to see what our internships had in store for us next! But not before a cheeky trip to Oxford Street with Gemma!
I love Oxford Street at Christmas time – the lights brightened up the area, and for some reason (probably due to the fact it was Christmas), everyone seemed to be merry – I bet it was their post work drinks! After spending a while in Topshop, I decided to deter myself away from the clothes, and buy myself some of Lola’s famous cupcakes instead! They were so nice and I would definitely go there again!
As an intern at Drapers, some of my duties included working on the Indicator, picture sourcing (as seen on the Show Calendar photo above), and I got to write for the website! It was a good experience as I have never written for a business publication, so it was good to know how it differed from consumer magazines.
Being in London during December also meant that I could celebrate my 21st birthday early! My boyfriend decided to take me on a shopping trip on Bond Street and Oxford Street as a present. We stopped at Wasabi, our new favourite Asian restaurant for a chicken yakisoba and sushi! It’s so cheap and filling – I would definitely recommend it!
The celebrations continued on our final night in London. We headed to Yates for a few drinks before heading to TGI Friday in Covent Garden for free cocktails and dinner. It was again, another good night! Playing ‘I have never’ in a family-friendly restaurant was weird, but good fun at the same time! I also got a free chocolate cake slice for my birthday! (Which is always a bonus!)
Overall it was an amazing experience and it did make me realise that I could live in London if I did get a job there. It was good as well that my friends were there with me to share this experience! And I cannot wait for the next adventure!
Have you been to London recently?
