The week before Christmas was my birthday, so I decided to do a few things in order to celebrate the grand old age of … twenty. Here is what I got up to!
Currently Coveting Comedians
To kick off the celebrations, my boyfriend took me to Manchester on Thursday (the day before my birthday), to see the very funny and oh-so-fit Russell Howard! I have to say, that I had doubts before the show, as to whether Russell would be as funny like he normally is on his TV show, Good News. But my sceptical thoughts were blown away when he came out with his classic one-liners that had the audience in stitches. Another highlight was when he sported a pink thong on stage – yes, you read that right, a PINK THONG! I never laughed so hard in my entire life!
Me and Ali also had a gorgeous meal at Thai restaurant; Siam Orchid. We both had mussels to start with, followed by a pork stir-fry for me, and a chilli chicken stir-fry for Ali. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who happens to love Thai food and is in Manchester. We both spent the night at The Portland Hotel, which I have to say, was very posh – too posh even, for us mere mortals! Nevertheless, the room was perfect for one night, and for £65 (the rooms are normally £200), we did well!
Style Savvy Spending – Take Two, Trafford Centre
You may have read the last Style Savvy Shopping post, which was based at the Trafford Centre, well on Friday 16th December (the day of my birthday), I had another cheeky shopping trip there where I spent quite a bit of money!
Here is what I bought:
From L-R: River Island t-shirt, Photobooth images and a Build-A-Bear, Urban Outfitters top, Republic blazer, Republic Tights, Miss Selfridge body-chain and polka-dot tights and Republic high-waisted jeans.
Most of the things that I bought were for my ‘uniform’ at work, as well as a few bits and bobs that were on my Christmas Wishlist.
Beautiful Buffets and Cool Cocktails
The last day of celebrations was filled with an awesome night of seeing my besties, scoffing a buffet and sipping giant cocktails.
I wore two of my purchases from Friday’s manic shopping trip. I decided to go for a casual/going out look, and opted for a simple sparkly vest and shorts, rather than a dress.
Here is what I wore:
I decided to have the meal at Red Hot World Buffet in Leeds. It has everything from Italian food, to Japanese and even Thai! I would definitely recommend this buffet, as not only is it cheap, but you will never look at another Chinese buffet again, without thinking ‘Red Hot Buffet is better’!
We all had a great time – it was nice to catch-up and have a meal as opposed to going out and getting wasted.
Overall, I really enjoyed my turning twenty, and I cannot wait to see what the rest of my twenties have in store for me! How did you celebrate your birthdays this year?
